Meta has announced a subscription service for Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro owners that will give members a couple of games per month.
The new service is essentially Meta’s version of PS Plus Essential or Xbox Live Gold, with games “hand picked” and available at the start of each month. They will continue to be available to play indefinitely, as long as you continue to subscribe.
As well as the Quest 2 and Pro VR headsets, Meta Quest+ will be available on the Quest 3 when it arrives later this year. It is also available at a discount as part of the launch, with the first month being offered for just $1.
The subscription will then cost $7.99 per month going forward.
Meta has revealed that the first two games to be available are Pistol Whip from Cloudhead Games, along with Pixel Ripped 1995 from ARVore Immersive Experiences.
Pistol Whip is a psychedelic first-person shooter/rhythm game with banging tunes and a crazy colour scheme.
Pixel Ripped 1995, on the other hand, takes you back to the mid-90s and tasks you with playing experiences inspired by the 16-bit and 32-bit games of that period – either from your virtual bedroom, an arcade or other locations.
They will be available throughout July, with Walkabout Mini Golf and Mothergunship: Forge being added a month later.
Meta also recently dropped the price of its hugely popular Meta Quest 2 headset (previously known as the Oculus Quest 2). It now has 25 per cent off as we build up to the launch of the Quest 3.

£299 There’s no word yet on when Meta Quest+ will be available outside the US. It doesn’t seem to be active in the UK yet, for example.
