You get a lot with a PlayStation Plus subscription, even the entry-level PS Plus Essential membership.

Not only does it provide access to online multiplayer play for the vast majority of PlayStation 5 and PS4 games, it gives you a handful of free games each month. You also get to keep them if you continue to subscribe.

If you pay more for a PS Plus Extra or Premium tier, you still get the free monthly games and online access, but you also get an ever increasing library of modern and classic titles to download or stream and enjoy (depending on the membership plan).

Here are this month’s free games for PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium members, as announced by PlayStation.

Confirmed free PS5 and PS4 games for August 2023

These are the PS5 and PS4 games you can download and play this month. They will be available from 1 August to 4 September 2023.

PGA Tour 2K23

With EA Sports returning to the golf game genre, you can check out the rival game series that kept the candle burning over the last few years. 2K Games’ PGA Tour 2K23 is a superb sports title with some great controls, plenty of courses and a robust multiplayer experience.

Dreams

PS4 game builder and creation tool, Dreams, will be available to PS Plus subscribers for the first time. Not only does it give you access to hundreds of games made by fellow gamers, you can even use its superb toolkit to make your own experiences.

Death’s Door

Action-adventure Death’s Door is available for both the PS5 and PS4. It offers a top-down dungeon crawling experience that lasts for over 10 hours, so there’s plenty of gameplay to check out.

Note: PlayStation has now pulled its PlayStation Plus Collection that was offered as an incentive to PlayStation 5 owners. It included 19 PS4 games available to download and play on PS5, although the offer ended on 9 May 2023.
